Is there a Motorola issue with Chromecast?

Thanks for the info B. That is somewhat of a relief for me since I purchased it primarily for use with Netflix. Hopefully they will resolve the issue soon - especially now that it is getting some attention.

You should be fine with Netflix. I haven't streamed a whole movie, but I've tested short excerpts and that seems to work very well. I just can't stream Play Music and apparently not the Play Movies & TV either (which I don't use).

So this is progress? I forgot all about the fact that I still have my old Droid X sitting around the house, running 2.3.4. I fired it up tonight, installed the Chromecast app and updated to the current version of the Play Music app and it streamed the music to Chromecast on the TV perfectly! Tried it once again with my Razr Maxx running 4.1.2 with the same version of the Play Music app and still no go.

I actually thought about trying the same thing since I have an old Droid X in my drawer. There must be some stupid piece of code that is preventing the Maxx from connecting.

I may have to break down and root my Maxx if it will allow the Chromecast to work as it is designed. Will find out in a few days when it arrives.

Amen to that I had rooted my old HTC Aria, but it run on 2.1. Since I have the M I haven't really felt the need to root, but that may change if I get Chromecast

Supposedly, updates are already coming to Chromecast and the Play Music app that is supposed to improve playability, but haven't heard if it will address the Razr/Razr Maxx issue or not. The Chromecast update happens automatically while the Play Music app update is being rolled out in stages. I've been checking but haven't received any updates yet.

Received both the Chromecast OTA firmware update and the update to the Play Music app (now version 5.1.1107K) and nothing has changed. Chromecast still isn't seeing my Razr Maxx and Play Music app still can't be streamed from my phone to the TV.

Chromecast must be in BIG demand. I just found out from Amazon that mine won't be delivered until August 23rd. In the mean time I found this article that you may find interesting (if you are already in possession of the coveted device).
