On Windows, under computer, i just right click and select eject for each of the (3) drives : 1) MOT (internal SD), 2) SD (ext-SD), and 3) MotoCast. I have never, in my life, touched a Mac so i don't know if you even have a mouse and/or right and left clicks...

With a Mac you should just be able to drag the drives that mount (mine show up as noname and moto) to the trash and it will eject them. I

As soon as you eject them, the phone stops charging. As far as charging when mac is off, i don't think it's the voltage problem, as I charged this phone just fine prior to ICS. Anyway, I've made my peace with having it on a regular charger in a different part of the room, hoping maybe when the official ics comes out this will be somehow fixed. Another thing I really miss from GB is the checkmark for matching volume of notifications to ringer volume. I turn down the volume when at work and turn it up when i leave, but now to do that to SMS alert i need to deep into the settings menus... Everything else seems to be working just fine thought.

I have windows also, not a MAC, I just don't see a picture of a computer> Thank you for trying to help, any other ideas?

Try getting another USB cable, and carefully cutting it open and cutting the 2 data wires, now it's a charge only cable.

This is driving me nuts. I tried covering the middle two contacts, but I think it somehow knows, it won't charge. If I eject the drives, charging also stops.

Is this a patch / utility opportunity?
Any possibility in ICS to improve this ourselves?

Found this interesting thread on one of the Motorola forums
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/ad14164d1d?page=1
The forum manager appears to be a Motorola employee and in his last post he wrote he had "raised this with the team". Unfortunately, the last post in that thread is dated September...
Many posters on that forum made an interesting point: several companies and most government agencies have policies prohibiting the connection of any storage device to a computer. Without a "charge only" option, you could possibly be fired or prosecuted just for having connected a ICS phone to an office computer to simply charge it......
