[Rumor] Verizon Won't Have a Droid RAZR HD MAXX; Only a Droid RAZR HD with 8MP Cam
According to some new rumors, Verizon and Motorola may actually be playing things smart with their new Droid RAZR HD. The new intel indicates they will not be producing a separate Droid RAZR HD MAXX. Instead, they will only have the Droid RAZR HD, and it will come with a 2530 mAH battery. This is a smart compromise between the original Droid RAZR's 1780 and the RAZR MAXX's 3300 mAH. Also, it would illustrate Moto's new improved focus. Instead of trying to gouge customers with two variants of the same device, instead they will be offering just one high-end product.
This rumor isn't all good news, however. The other bit of intel is that the previously rumored 13MP camera was untrue. Instead, this new phone will simply have an improved 8MP camera. The other disappointing part of these rumors is that the device won't be available until around October or November, and that it won't get Jelly Bean until early in 2013. Yikes!
Finally, the source of this info supposedly confirmed that the above pics (leaked back in early August) are in fact what the device will look like. Share your thoughts.

I like the idea of only having one variant of the device too ...
The MP of the camera doesn't concern me honestly, but Moto needs to do something to improve picture quality. And more MPs is not the answer IMO - my Nexus with a 5MP camera running ICS took decent pics - probably slightly better then my Maxx pic quality. Now, my Nexus running JB took phenomenal pics! So, this tells me software upgrades can improve picture quality (I not too bright 'bout stuff likes dis) ... I think Moto needs to concentrate less on MPs and more on the software that makes the camera tick.

I agree on the camera. I'd rather have a camera with fewer MP as long as the quality was good. Higher megapixels does not equal better photos.
That said, I'm starting to get really jealous of those with the Maxx as I still have the Razr. Even though it's been good to me, I have had a few situations where I could have used the longer battery life instead of carrying my external battery with me. With this one supposedly splitting the difference I'm going to remain a bit indifferent until I see some real life results. There are going to be more pixels to push so the battery usage will be higher by default. Until official results are shown it's just speculation at this point.
