Text message video mode gone after jellybean update

Well after I updated all for droid razr maxx devices to jellybean can no longer send a video threw text. It's a software problem. Verizon and Motorola couldn't finger it out. It's been escalated to the engineers at motorola. They both tried everything. Verizon wanted to replace my device I told them that I know of 5 devices doing the same thing. So I guess wait for the patch! I can send pictures just not the video says files to large to send. Just thought I would share.

Admittedly, I don't often send video via text. I also don't use the stock MMS - I use Handcent.

With Handcent I was able to open a new message, go to Menu/Attach, scroll down until I saw Video, select "Record Video", click the "check mark" and it embedded my video in the text message.

Out of curiosity I went into the stock app and followed similar steps with the same success. Select a new message and whom you want to send it to (it requires you to enter a recipient before adding attachments). Once your recipients are set, touch the paper clip and chose between "Existing Video" and "New Video". Once again click on the "Check" symbol and the video should be embedded in your message.

I am on stock Jellybean - this method seems to work for me. If it doesn't work for you there may be some other issue.

If it says too large to send, it's probably just too large. There are limits even for pictures on MMS messages.

Have you tried a shorter video? Or recording a longer video at a lower resolution?

Oddly enough, while looking to see what the options were for attachments (I saw the same as ToeJamm), I found "attach location" which was one of the features I used on BlackBerry Messenger a lot when I had one. You could type myloc in a message and it put in your coordinates automatically. The process isn't as smooth on JB, but it's still useful.

Yup its just a size issue. In your video recorder, if you go to settings there is an option for MMS video. Record in that and you can send videos.

Yeah Motorola was into my phone with my permission and videos were only 5 zec clips up to 15 on video setting qvga its a bug in the stock text app. Motorola was takeing screen shots of my error messages and was gonna let the engineers look at it. I can make a video on go SMS recorder but not stock camera or stock text app. Been using go SMS. Thanks was just talking about stock.

It used to have the mode normal video, text message video or time laps. Under the pull down menu on left part of screen after you pushed the film icon. Now all it has is normal video and time laps mode.

Looks like the option now is to go under camera/video settings and selecting one of the lower resolution videos.
Options are: HD+ (highest res), HD, DVD, VGA, and QVGA.

Try playing with it a bit - likely the QVGA setting will be the most appropriate for messages.

Still unable to send video via text since jelly bean update

I was really hoping that there was some resolution to this by now.

    However I have tried everything.

I have done the QVGA settings and even with a three second video I am unable to send it via text.

I have also tried a few text programs to no avail.

Has Motorola or Verizon come up with anything.

This has affected my phone, my husbands phone and my three friends that all have the Droid Razr Maxx.
I really miss being able to send videos via text.

I too "talked" (Via verizon chat) with Verizon Tech support today. They offered me two things do a master reset or send me a "new" phone.
I did not take either option. I have babied my phone and don't want a refurbished phone as a replacement.

I told them I wanted to think about it.

What do you think I should do?

How big a pain is a master reset in terms of getting my apps back? What do I lose with a Master Reset?

From what I can tell the only way you can send video is if you open the text messenger, select whom you are sending to, touch the paper clip (attachment) and select "New Video". This takes you to the video recorder where you can record the subject. When video is complete, click the check mark and it takes you back to the text application to type a message.

This doesn't seem to allow you to send a video unless you've created it within the text application as an MMS. My guess is that they've done this to limit bandwidth utilization.

    Hope this helps.

Edit: I don't understand why it won't allow you to send a video that was previously recorded if it were captured at the lower resolution. If I can find out anything I will pass it along.

Edit2: I don't see any option other than the one described above in this post. Unfortunately, it means you need to be intentional and pretty much clairvoyant when sending a video because it has to be taken from the MMS app menu. This is VERY limiting. I did find a post on the Verizon forum and a Verizon representative didn't seem to have a good answer either. They were telling the owner of a Droid Bionic to open the camera/video and select MMS resolution to send a video. This isn't even an option under Jelly Bean
