    Cm 10.2

Has anyone tried 10.2 on a Razr/Maxx yet? CyanogenMod posted nightlies yesterday/today for most devices.

    CyanogenMod Downloads

I'm curious about it because I'm getting bored with my phone and would like to play around with new options. I have never used SafeStrap, but I am comfortable with rooting/flashing etc.

Just curious if anyone has tried it and how it works. According to the install instructions page the only thing that doesn't work (the only thing called out, at least) is the camera flash. I guess it works in preview but not when actually taking a photo. I rarely use the flash, so I'm not super concerned about that, and I'm willing to trade it off to at least from some of the 4.3 goodness.

I have used CM before but I prefer an AOKP based rom. It runs a lot smoother and you get way more options. Here is a screenshot of the ROM I am running right now:

I used CM7 on my Nook Color for a very long time, and just recently updated it to CM10.1. I've never tried it on a phone, though.

Can I do a nandroid and go back to stock if I don't like it? SafeStrap lets you put more than one ROM in there so you can switch between them, right?

Would I be able to make a full backup of what I have now and then go back to that state without SafeStrap if I needed to?

Safestrap does let you make multiple ROMs IF you have the storage for it.

You don't have to backup the stock ROM you have now but it would be better to. Since safestrap has multiple ROM slots, you can switch ROMs whenever you feel! I am running an AOKP, a CM10, and an Aviator ROM right now and they all seem to be working fantastic.

So I went ahead and installed SafeStrap and everything was going great. I was following instructions in the CyanogenMod wiki for installation on my device. I created ROM slot 1. The next instruction was to tap Wipe, FDR, then select the zip(s) to install. I did wipe and FDR, before realizing that I still had the stock slot selected.

I wasn't terribly concerned because I made a backup in SafeStrap to SD before I did anything. I switched to ROM slot 1 and flashed the CM10.2 zip and GAPPS, which worked fine. It booted and I got stuff setup. I then tried to boot back to the stock partition and it did load up a fresh install and started the setup process.

I rebooted again and restored the backup I made, but never booted into it (I just didn't want to forget to do it). I played around with CM10.2 more and decided to switch back to my stock ROM because I had some minor annoyances and planned to check back when new nightlies were available.

When I swapped back, I rebooted and saw the red M logo, followed by the safe strap screen. That goes away and the phone should boot into stock, right?

Apparently not. It plays the stock startup sounds ("Droooooid" followed by some whirring sounds), and I can feel the device vibrate a few times (like it does when it boots) but the screen is black. The button backlights are on, but that's about it. I can do a simulated battery pull and reboot through SafeStrap again, but it just does the same thing over and over. I can still boot into slot 1 just fine, which has CM 10.2 in it.

Anyone have ideas? I have no experience with SafeStrap so I'm not sure what to try next.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Try a hard reset (power + volume down) if not then you may be bricked. You said you made a backup and then restored it, correct?

Your not bricked. Use the key combo to rest and enter Safe Strap. Factory reset (again), cache and dalvik cache. Then boot into stock slot. If that doesn't work then you may need to download a fastest aka flash stock system with RSD Lite. Do you already have the files on your computer?
