I ask because my 7 year old has a dumb phone. And old flip phone that took a beating before him so if he destroys it oh well. Data is blocked. I let him play with mine when we are out sometime and he is bored with his book and legos, but he doesn't need the data. I didnt even think of his being an unactivated wifi using phone.

(My child has a phone for very specific reasons, namely a father across country and because we have no home phone. just so no one points out the absurdity of an active phone for a 7 year old.)

I've derailed this thread enough, Sorry.

No worries there, it's still on topic.

My OG Droid still serves as our home phone, just on wifi instead of 3g.

I think 10 years ago - a child (age can be defined for many reasons) with a cell phone was like "what are you thinking" and now it more common...I won't say good or bad but both of mine have phones. We live in a world of ever increasing technology (students have computer lab in 1st grade now ). I think as rng pointed out - it is a way for her child to be reached and I would bet that is quite popular with most school aged children.

I know some adults that shouldn't have a smartphone ...LOL

Ok!!!!......... I don't even know where to start!!! Lol

I have 15 Android phones in my household!

I won't go to deep into details but....
My 13 year old daughter has one of my DROID X's. The 3 and 6 year old use another X and the Evo Shift as mp3 players, gaming systems and kids books. The X for the kids has at least 150 games on it and they still get bored!!! Sometimes I get the o.g. Droids out to mess with roms, themes, and other hacks. The rest of the phones that aren't activated can be classified as paper weights until I pull them out of the box to display them to my friends.
I make wallpapers and icons. Check out my thread sometime.
