What to do with that spare Android device?

Seeing that many Razr owners are not first time Android device owners, I'm sure there are many people that have their old phone sitting around the house. Some devices may be sitting idle in hopes that they may be resurrected if the unthinkable happens to the device that replaced them. Others may have been passed along to relatives or friends to give them a taste of what Android has to offer. For me, I turned my old OG Droid into a wireless keyboard and mouse for my HTPC. It also serves as my alarm every day. Though the coolest feature, in my opinion, has to be that it now serves as our home phone!

With a program called GrooveIP (gotten a while back for Free! as an Amazon Free app of the day!!!), I have setup my Google Voice number and can now make and receive calls using wifi! This might not sound too great in this day and age, but isn't it nice to be able to keep an old device active and functioning instead of turning it into a useless paper weight?

What uses have others found for their semi retired devices?

I haven't sold one to them, but they buy old phones. My old phones go to my wife. They never live past her

lol....I have a spare Bionic now and am thinking of replacing my 2 year old's Droid X with it. I know it sounds dumb but I load up apps like Kids Paint, Monkey Preschool lunchbox, and stuff like that. He loves his X

Don't you feel the cost of the data plan of a childs phone is silly? Or is it worth it to you?

My OG Droid serves as my backup phone. I sell the others to offset some of the cost of upgrading. In fact, Ebay has an instant buy for phones, and I just got 110 for my Inc 2 with a fully disclosed non working external speaker. Considering I got my Razr for 99$ on an upgrade promo I am pleased.

I can't speak for nerdslogic, but his spare device is more than likely off of a plan and is just using wifi.
